Answer: Scientific management states that humans are motivated by money and there should be a separation between managers and the workers. This theory is ineffective because it does not promote teamwork. Team work in the healthcare industry is imperative because there must be a collaboration amongst, physicians, nurses and other members of the healthcare industry.

I have worked in a facility that has been changing management at least every year and a half for the past 5yrs. As of a year now we have a director and manager that have incorporated a luncheon with staff (done quarterly and everyone gets a chance) and speak about current situations, good and bad, and actively listen to staff’s need and consider new ideas. For any idea that is submitted and is successful and then implemented, the staff member recieves a monetary bonus. This has greatly improved patient care and nurse turnover has began to decline.
